Fosters Transformative Teaching
Professional learning opportunities for teachers need to occur in ways that teachers learn best in order to transform their practice (Darling-Hammond & Wei, 2009). In the HLC, all members are considered contributors to the learning of the group (Lave & Wenger, 1991). Since HLC tend to be made of teachers that come with varying levels of experience and expertise, it can provide multiple perspectives that support teachers in transforming their practice (Barab, Barnett, & Squire, 2002).
